It seems everybody has a hybrid nowadays. Even the professionals broke them out frequently to keep it in play at the U.S. Open. And although many big names compete for iron-wood supremacy, we’ve found one of the best in a small company that’s poised to whack its way through the competition.

“I guess to some extent the flash is part of what attracts people” says Carlsbad owner Steve Kurtz. “But I’ve got guys who are plus-2s who are hitting them.  We’ve had a tremendous response, and a lot of our sales are from referrals. When somebody sees the club, it sparks their curiosity, but when they hit it, then they’re sold on it — they’ve got to have it.”
Yes, the Penley-shafted Chopper has every bit the substance to match the flash. While you might expect the shiny surface to lack both distance and soft feel at impact, quite the opposite is true — the club’s layered crown helps golf balls jump off the face with virtually no vibration, and The Chopper’s distance will add fuel to any player’s long game. In fact, our FG testers have “driven” many a par 5 in two, thanks to our new two-wheeled friend.
And what good’s a motorcycle if you can’t go off-roading with it? Carlsbad made sure to create a “hydrofoil effect” with its dual grass-guide soleplate, making rough shots as easy as a street wheelie without sacrificing accuracy from the shorter grass.
