V-Day (and beyond) Vision

by Katharine Dyson

Even if she can’t putt, with these new form-fitting sexy golf clothes and accessories, nobody will care. There are a lot of new looks out there with mind-boggling high-tech lingo to describe them, but let me tell you: If you’re buying golf apparel for your Valentine, get something that says you think she’s hot.

Need some help? Try these.

Kate Lord: The KL Performance Pullover from Ahead’s Kate Lord line is techy, formfitting and sexy, both on and off the course. Made of tactel nylon, poly and lycra, it has a mock turtleneck with a zipper-neck closure, long sleeves and comes in hot pink or black with contrasting piping. Really shows off those curves — pull it out and it snaps back, plus it’s so comfortable, it’s like a second skin. $82.

Cutter & Buck: No, she won’t taste like a coconut, but buy her something in the ProTec line made with fabrics designed to keep her cool and dry, even protect her from UPF rays. (And don’t tell her, but it helps with odor too.) They call it Cocona technology, derived, yes, from the coconut. Look for the DryTec Iron Play Mock in Oxide Green. We also like the WindTec Crown Hill Reversible Vest in Nectar, featuring a chocolate faux-fur lining, bubble-quilted exterior and full zip closure. Very cozy with a slim silhouette fit. $98.

Vineyard Vines: If your woman craves classic and class, try New England-based Vineyard Vines for cotton traditionals like polos and khakis in delicious colors with subtle small print trim depicting the good life — whales, golf clubs, sailboats, etc. She’ll also love their belts and canvas bags (trimmed with good life designs). Our favorite is the mini tote. Every time she tucks it into her golf cart, she’ll think of you. It’s indestructible and a perfect size with a zipper closure and pockets. $75

Lija by Linda Hipp marries retro, tropical and classic to performance. Fabrics are great, fit is excellent and the clothes work well in action. We love the fit and the feel of the fabrics. Take a look at these fashion-driven designs.

Other golf styles worth a look include:
> EP Pro’s tapered shirts and shorts with contrasting piping happily slim.
> Fairway & Greene’s quilted vest and jackets in luscious colors, stripes and plaids add twists on traditional.
> Marcello Sport’s cashmere sweaters are eye-catchers. Puma’s far-out abstract motifs are attention grabbers. Think Tehama for forward-thinking fashions.

Accessories
Ecco Shoes: Wait until she wears her new Eccos. She won’t want to take them off — even in bed.

Gloves
Michael Jackson, move over. Sassy Gloves add a new flair to leather golf gloves with trim like hematite, 14K gold, sterling silver, and Swarovski Crystals. You even get a bracelet that doubles as a stroke counter.

Watch
MioELITE Golf XE is a pretty fancy name for a watch, but then this one (unlike the C645CI BMW) keeps track of your heart rate, calculates your handicap, stores scores and tons of stats, and has dual alarms. But no, it won’t read your putts. $179.

Sunglasses
Go for it. This is one pair of sunglasses she won’t lose because, well, she’ll forget she’s wearing them and won’t take them off.

Women love PeakVision’s Dual-Zone lens sunglasses, in particular the “Special Edition” line, which comes in snazzy colors. It’s all about cool design, super fit, and duel-zone lenses that manage all kinds of lighting conditions and protects the baby blues. $169. FG
