Sticks n Stuff: Cleveland HiBore

Low and Go: The HiBore‘s origins can be traced back to the Spalding/Top-Flite Magma Driver — scooped out top and very low center of gravity. With a larger sole plate than the 460cc series of Cleveland drivers, the HiBore is what the company calls the “ultimate high-launch/low spin weapon.” Our testing showed drives that go farther and straighter from a larger portion of the clubface than any other current big-name driver available today. The sweet spot is 20 percent larger than previous Cleveland models and is lower on the clubface, resulting in a lot of oohs and aahs on the tee box and little wedges into greens. Flex the Muscle: The standard shaft is the Fujikura HiBore Silver available in X, Stiff, Regular and Senior, and clubface lofts range from 8.5 to 11.5 degrees. Is it the new look of launch? We’re not sure, but it’s definitely got golfers talking, looking and wondering if they should join ol’ Vij in the Cleveland camp. reader comments
