We’re not sure if Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, otherwise known as The Queen, is a golfer. But she does seem to have good taste in timepieces, as she was captured just before the Academy Awards sporting Gevril’s Avenue of Americas “Mini.”

Says Gevril’s Vice President Steven Pachtinger, “When she visited with us in Los Angeles, Ms. Mirren’s eyes twinkled and, with a hint of excitement in her voice, she reached out to explore the Avenue of Americas ‘Mini’ and proclaimed, ‘Now isn’t that quite girly.’ She was taken with its white mother of pearl dial and diamond encrusted bezel. Although her personal assistant had her eyes on something more simple, Mirren was sold on the diamond version.”

Mirren is the latest Hollywood star joining a list of “A” celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, Geena Davis and Nicollet Sheridan among many others who have become part of the ever-growing community of owners of the handmade, limited-edition timepieces of Gevril. Other celebs on the Gevril bandwagon include former FG cover subject Martin Sheen, Sting, Mario Andretti, Joan Collins, Anne Hathaway, Brad Garrett, Federico Castelluccio, Joe Mantegna, Joan Rivers and Eva Mendez. We’re still waiting to spot a PGA or LPGA player sporting a Swiss automatic timepiece from the New York-based company, but it’s just a matter of ... well ... time.
