Remember all the grief Fred Couples and Tom Lehman took over their Dockers wardrobe back in the day? Hey, they chose comfort over old-school slippery-lookin’ style, and more power to them. But now Dockers has grown up into “Championship” form with its sleek, oh-so-comfy new pants, part of a new 2007 apparel line that’s set to officially launch this fall.

The Championship Pant features one-of-a-kind Cocona fibers, derived from coconut shells. They’re by no means tropical in look and feel, however; the FG crew found they fit in just as well at a business meeting or dinner as they did on the first tee. And their “Cool Effects” finish keeps the golfer drier and cooler by wicking moisture away from the body. And even if our game stunk up the joint, our bodies didn’t, thanks to Anti-Microbial Technology — active carbons within the fiber absorbing odors

The Dockers 2007 Golf line, also includes the brand’s classic Performance pants and shorts in pleated and flat front styles ($80), plus polos and mock-neck shirts ($42), pull-overs and vests ($38) — which we loved in both classic V-neck and collared/half-zipper styles. Always a big vest guy, Couples in particular would look great in either the blue or red model we wore in a variety of settings, from rounds on the coast to Circling Raven in Northern Idaho. Belts, socks, hats, and wind jackets complete the head-to-toe look. The lowdown?

Dockers deserves another look, big time.
