Golf Community Website

There are a few other sites around, but, in my humble opinion, this one has a unique look and feel. Another fairly large site has so many topics going that it has gotten away from being a real golf site…topics like, “What did you have for lunch today?” Sure, that stuff can be ignored, but it’s just goofy. Also, the mods are in a pseudo gestapo mode. Who needs that?
This place is classy…at least it was until they granted my membership!

i recently joined a new site called golfhub.com and got my usga handicap index and membership with local golf association (arizona). the forums aren’t as active as this site, but you can do everything from book tee times, meet golfers, post bulletins, etc.
i like the look and feel of this site as well…but that’s about it. you really can’t do much but chat and read stuff.
yep, GolfHub is good if you like to have Tee Times hammered down your throat each visit. The site is run by Th GolfSwitch Tee Time network and for the sole purpose of selling discounted tee times, not providing quality community tools.
GolfBuzz seems to be focused more on giving golfers great tools and on letting the golfers be in control, and not just selling you something each click.
If GolfHub were a true commuity built for golfers, it would be available to golfers everywhere, and not just where they SELL tee times.
My 2 cents.

viewing the best available tee times is the whole reason i joined golfhub (as well as golfnow).
in arizona, golfhub started up several summer golf leagues that allowed me to meet and play golf w/ other members. they also ran charity tournaments benefitting the local charities which was a blast.
being able to meet other golfers online is gravy, but being able to meet new members and play golf in person makes it all better, that’s where i see the biggest difference between the two sites are.
i still like golfbuzz because it looks aesthetically pleasing…but it really doesn’t do anything else. there are only 50 other golfers in the AZ community and i haven’t seen anyone else join in several months.
the game tracking is also nice, but after awhile, all you want to do is enter you gross score and be done with it. i know i suck at golf, so i don’t want to know what my real stats are.

I’ve been thinking and working (mostly thinking) about doing my own little version of a golf community website for probably 3 years now. I actually had a pretty good start and I’m amazed at the similarities between this site and mine. I actually bought the website address GolfERbuzz a few years back and later decided to change it to ItsAllGolf. Anyways, here was my attempt at a website similar to this one, frozen in time, but actually quite functional: http://www.itsallgolf.com
I’m glad to see someone finally published a website like this on the internet – for such a large enthusiast’s base that the golf community has, we sure don’t have any great websites that come to mind. Great job and I hope to continue using this site as more and more users sign up!
