Valley Hi Golf Course - 03/23/2008 - pjevans
Valley Hi is a muni-course. By starting with that, it puts everything else in perspective. It's affordable ($28.00 on weekends) and the greens are typically in above average condition. Since we play seasonal golf in Colorado, their greens are generally the first in the area to soften and green up! The course itself isn't very difficult or long, but I enjoy playing here. My biggest flaw is pace of play. It can be slow, but again - it's a muni-course. Most muni's (inclding Patty Jewett) are slow... Marshall's are almost ghost-like and do almost nothing to encourage groups to catch up. The facilities are older, but the restaraunt/bar is top-notch and there's always a beer-cart roaming the course. Can't ask for more than that. This course doesn't get the amount of play that Patty Jewett gets...and as such, the greens are usually in better condition. Interestingly enough, the course is rated tougher on the front than the back, but I think the opposite is true. The back 9 plays like a completely different course, so give it a try!
